Best RV Mattress Reviews

Brooklyn Bowery

BEST FOR:

  • If price is your #1 concern with an RV mattress
  • All sleep styles
  • If you just want a comfy, softer bed with a neutral feel
  • People that like buying American-made products
  • People that can take a standard size bed (i.e. a queen or full)

Why Bowery is a a good RV mattress — We selected Bowery for this list mostly because it’s really affordable and very comfortable. Considering the bed is made in the USA and sells for around $600 after-discount (queen size), we think it makes a lot of sense for budget shoppers out there. It might not fit in every RV, but it does come in the standard mattress sizes—hopefully you have room for a twin, full, or queen size bed because Bowery is quite nice.

Feel — Bowery feels like a general, soft foam bed. In fact, it doesn’t really have a signature feel. It really just is like laying on a soft slab of foam. It’s responsive and comfortable, but doesn’t feel at all like memory foam. We’d consider it a safe pick, and would wager that about 70% of people would be just fine on Bowery. It’s not technically a mattress for heavy people, but if it’s just used every so often it should be just fine.

Firmness — Bowery is about a medium in terms of firmness, though, the heavier you are, the softer the bed will appear. We think it has enough pressure relief for side sleepers, but still enough support for some back and stomach sleepers. Most people like Bowery and give it great reviews.

Nectar

BEST FOR:

  • People that want a memory foam RV mattress
  • Anyone that’s price conscious and wants a bed that usually comes with two pillows
  • All sleeping positions (even though Nectar feels firmer in cold weather)
  • If you think you might return the bed (comes with a 365-night trial period)

Reasons Nectar is a good RV mattress — In recent years, Nectar has emerged as the cheap memory foam bed, with thousands of 4-5 star reviews. Not only is it affordable (i.e. under $1K for a queen), but also it has an accomodating feel for those that love memory foam. For these reasons, and others, we see Nectar as a natural fit as an RV mattress—that is, if you can accommodate a standard size bed.

Nectar is a solid pick for all sleeping positions

Feel and firmness — In general, all memory foams will feel firmer in cold rooms and softer in warmer rooms, so keep that in mind as you go through this post. In terms of what Nectar feels like, it has a more typical memory foam feel. It has the sink-in feel and it does contour nicely to the shape of your body. When you lay down, it takes a few seconds for the materials to soften around you, but from there on you should get a nice amount of pressure relief. And, since the bed is about a medium or medium-firm, it should be just fine for all sleepers, unless you had your heart set on an extra-soft bed.

Price point — Excluding, Amazon mattresses, Nectar is among the most affordable bed-in-a-box mattresses out there. As mentioned above, you can get a queen size Nectar mattress for under $1K, after discount. You can check the current offers on NectarSleep.com.

Bundle deal — Part of what makes Nectar so affordable is the fact that almost always you will get two pillows with your purchase of a mattress. They aren’t the fanciest pillows in the world, but for someone that’s concerned with price and sticking to a budget, they don’t hurt.

The Allswell

BEST FOR:

  • Anyone with back pain that wants a support, yet affordable mattress
  • People that can accommodate an innerspring mattress for their RV
  • Price-conscious shoppers that want an online bed
  • People that need a medium-firm mattress
  • If you want a bed that gets almost always positive reviews

Why Allswell is good for back pain — The main reason we selected Allswell is that we consider it a nice mattress for back pain sufferers, particularly as it relates to your RV. We say this because it’s (a) supportive and (b) firmer. It’s a really nice option for back and stomach sleepers, and yet side sleepers will be fine on it as well, so long as it’s not your everyday mattress.

Most of the time, however, people with back pain are working with an unsupportive mattress and spend most of the night on their back or stomach. Allswell is a good fit if this is the case for you.

What it feels like — Allswell is like laying on a very thick bed of grass with a little bounce. It’s actually more comfortable than you’d think, and, again, offers plenty of support for people sleeping in your RV. The bed technically has memory foam, but you won’t feel it like you will with the Nectar mattress.

Other models offered — In addition to The Allswell, the company sells two other beds: The Supreme and The Luxe. These are thicker and softer than The Allswell, but might be worth your consideration if you want more cushioning and you can fit normal size mattresses in your RV. You can see all the beds on AllswellHome.com.

Tuft & Needle Nod

BEST FOR:

  • If you want a softer foam bed that’s extremely affordable
  • All types of sleepers (back, stomach, side, combo)
  • Amazon Prime members (T&N is really popular on Amazon)
  • If you want a bed backed by a giant company (Serta-Simmons)

Why you’ll like T&N Nod — The Tuft & Needle Nod mattress is an affordable, all-foam bed with a softer, neutral feel. It is a budget-tier bed, but happens to be one of the best selling mattresses on the market. It’s very comfortable, but doesn’t feel like a prototypical memory foam, latex foam, or innerspring bed. And that’s because it mostly uses polyurethane foam—a material that’s extremely affordable to manufacture—which is clearly how they keep the price of the mattress down.

If you can fit a standard size mattress, Nod is a fantastic cheap option

Overall firmness — It is slightly on the firmer side from the get-go, but will soften over time (as is the case with all mattresses). So, while it’s best for back, stomach, and combo sleepers to start, it will eventually be able to accommodate side sleepers, as well. It’s not a glamorous bed, but it definitely gets the job done.

Amazon exclusive — Nod is one of very few Amazon-exclusive mattresses that we actually like. But why? For starters, as you’ve read, we like the feel and firmness of the mattress. Beyond that, however, we trust the brand (T&N is owned by Serta-Simmons) and we think it’s the type of cheaper mattress that the vast majority of people like.

In the context of an RV mattress, it should be the perfect fit if you can accept a standard size, such as a queen or full, since it’s only 8.5″ thick. It could also work for a bunk bed or drop-down mattress if you need the twin size. You can learn more about and check the price of the bed on Amazon.
